Chapter 12

Silas

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the next round of our Fun and Sun Dream Wedding Competition! I am your host Carlo Jackson, and our final contestants are battling it out for their chance to win a luxury wedding here at this amazing resort!” I was seated at my usual table with Adam, Zoe, and the guys. We came to have dinner while watching the next round of the competition. Having spent the day with Kayla, again, it was weird to think that I would now be watching her up on the stage with her fiancé. The sight of him with those two girls in the Casino still brewed in my mind, but I shook it off.

We’d had another amazing day together. At first, I was annoyed that we were paired together, but I knew that was because I was trying to protect myself from my feelings for her. When Zoe said she’d invited Kayla to take her place, I had felt excited at the thought of seeing her again without Scott and as a result, on the journey there I had tried to distance myself from her. It had been pointless, as Loukas intentionally threw us together and I was thankful. I knew she didn’t like heights and was surprised that she had agreed to come at all. However, with me by her side encouraging her, it didn’t take long for us to slip back into our old rhythm.

Watching her come off the zip line had been the highlight of my day. She threw herself at me and I had enjoyed every second of our embrace. The smell of her perfume, the warmth of her skin, and her petite frame in my arms was everything I remembered. It was everything I wanted. She was still everything I wanted.

“Let’s welcome our four couples back onto the stage!” The crowd cheered as the four couples awkwardly walked onto the middle of the stage. Kayla was dressed in a simple pale blue summer dress that looked refined and elegant, yet she didn’t look like herself.

“Kayla doesn’t look well.” Zoe spoke out and I agreed with her completely. Kayla looked pale and drained. The excited, happy woman I’d seen only a few hours earlier was gone.

“We have two surprises tonight for our competitors. The first is that not one, but two couples will be eliminated tonight!” The crowd gave a gasp while the couples looked at each other with wide eyed alarm. “That’s right! Only two couples will make it into the final round to win the wedding of their dreams. And tonight, we have a great battle lined up for you. Our couples will have to work together if they want to make it through, because tonight they will be making a wedding dress entirely from tissue paper!” The crowd laughed as Carlo continued with the instructions. “Now, we’re going to take the bride from one couple and place her with the groom from another. They will work together to decorate
